What, you didn't know? Yeah, today's Valentine's Day. If you are slapping yourself on the forehead because you forgot again, then don't worry. You still have time! Thankfully, Valentine's Day isn't like some of the major holiday's that cause most stores to close, so you are bound to find something for your special someone.
However, if you are trying to do some last minute Valentine's Day shopping, then you probably haven't had time to think about what you are going to get. Fortunately for you, most retailers have probably thought of a few ways for you to get a little something for your sweetie, as long as you don't mind shelling out the few extra bucks.
Here are a few ideas for you last minute Valentine's Day shoppers:
1) Flowers: Okay, so there probably isn't a dozen red roses within 50 miles that aren't wilted or way beyond your price range. Instead, why not try some nice potted flowers like orchids, tulips or daisies? You'll impress your Valentine even more if you tell her that you wanted to get her a plant that will mirror your love for her; one that will never die (sappy...we know).
2) Gourmet Chocolates: Does your Valentine have a sweet tooth? Then hit the mall and load up on some serious sweets from the gourmet chocolate shop. As the person behind the counter which truffles and tortes are the best, and have them wrap up your delicacies in a fancy box.
3) Pre-Made Gift Baskets: Does your Valentine love lotions? Enjoy a good beer? Many grocery stores offer pre-made Valentine's Day baskets geared towards special interests, such as bath products, sports enthusiasts or champagne and caviar. Pick one up, or make your own. One easy idea that everyone will love: Movie Night! Get some popcorn, gift certificates to a movie theater or video store, some candy and soda or other drinks and voila!
Whatever you do, don't forget your valentine today, even if you just pick up a card or make them a special meal. If you find yourself totally stuck while shopping, ask a sales clerk for some more ideas to make this year truly special.
